Troodos Day Tour

Head for the cool pine forests of the Troodos mountains. Start at the Asprokremos dam and a hearty brunch in Salamiou village, then go off-road through the forest to the centuries-old Tzielefos (Kelefos) stone bridge and the cascading Chantara waterfall. There is an optional lunch stop at Fioni taverna, with a taste of freshly made loukoumia (Cyprus delight). Stroll the cobbled streets of Omodos and sample local wines at the family-run Linos winery, then finish at Petra tou Romiou — the Rock of Aphrodite — as you head back to the coast. Guided in English and Hungarian; lunch is an optional extra, paid separately.

Troodos Day Tour — your questions

Are the tours suitable for children and families?
Absolutely — all three tours have child pricing, and the Blue Lagoon boat (the Nafsika II) even has a water slide. Do bear in mind the 4x4 tracks are bumpy and dusty, Avakas Gorge has slippery wet sections, and Lara and the open coast are real sea, so keep an eye on little ones and bring sun protection and swimwear.
What should I wear and bring?
Closed, sturdy trainers or light hiking shoes (essential for the gorge), plus sandals or water shoes for the swim stops. Bring swimwear and a towel, a hat, sunglasses, high-SPF sunscreen, plenty of water and a camera. For Troodos add a light layer — the mountains are cooler. A little cash is handy for coffee, loukoumi and wine.
What wine will I taste on the Troodos tour?
At the family-run Linos Winery in Omodos you can sample Cypriot wines and specialities such as Commandaria — often called the world's oldest named wine, a sweet dessert wine from sun-dried grapes — plus the strong local spirit Zivania and the winery's novelty blue wine. You'll also try Geroskipou-style loukoumi (Cyprus delight) along the way.
